The elevator wire rope consists of rope strands, strand wires and rope cores. Elevator wire ropes are made by twisting a single strand in a spiral around the core. Usually 50 to 65 high-quality carbon steel or 60Si2Mn steel wire is used. For safety, the elevator wire rope uses special or No. 1 steel wire, and the diameter of the steel wire is limited between 0.3 and 1.3 mm. The elevator wire rope has an oil-impregnated fiber core in the middle, which supports and fixes the position of the strands so as to improve the contact between the ropes and make the wire well lubricated.
