The choice between a geared elevator machine or a gearless elevator traction machine has always been a common question for many customers. However, the load capacity of geared and gearless elevators is roughly the same, but it is obvious that the speed and distance capacity of gearless elevators is more favorable than that of geared elevators. How Does Traction Elevator System Work?

Traction elevators operate via a system of cables and counterweights that exist within the elevator shaft. This integrated design means you don’t need a separate machine room to house the traction elevator machine. The elevator traction system enables it to lift and pull the unit without the need for excess energy or fluids.

When you enter the elevator cab and push the button, strong steel ropes or belts will begin to move outside the unit.
These belts or ropes roll over the sheave, which has built-in grooves. These grooves allow the sheave to maintain a tight grip on the cables.
The cab and counterweight balance one another, allowing the weight to teeter when activated.
This counterweight stores energy and allows the cab to move in the chosen direction.
